Hilary Term Presidential Remarks
Dear Scholars,
Happy New Year and a warm welcome to all Clarendon Scholars as many make their return, either virtually or physically, to Oxford for the term ahead. Our council has been hard at work over the break to prepare the year ahead and It is my greatest pleasure to be able to now share with you the launch of our 2021 stratagem.
Our mission was to imbue the vibrant and diverse international Clarendon Community with renewed energy, fervour and interest. With a fresh, recognisable identity, social media presence, new central website and a smorgasbord of events this term we hope to be on our way to making this mission happen.
The first stage of our rebranding was new colours, styles, icons and more, which you’ll see throughout our communications and website.
Secondly, we’ve launched a presence on all main social media platforms. We highly encourage you to connect and follow our pages, as these will be regularly updated with photos, news, scholar achievements and more! Click on these links for Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram.
Thirdly, and most importantly, we’ve designed and released a new website that will act as a centralised system for all Clarendon Council event registration, news, photos, the Chronicle and essential information. We hope it will make the experience of participating in the Association smoother, simpler and familiar. Please check out the site, explore the pages, and sign up to all the first term events which are already available in our new online ‘Event Store’.
In the longer term, we hope that by establishing a clearer identity we will also be able to better connect with the broader global community. This will facilitate clearer networks through which positive change and impact can be made via our work as Clarendon Scholars. It is our hope to make a ‘Scholar Database’ page where we showcase all the members of the Association with profiles. If you would like to have a profile, please complete this short form before 1 February 2021.
Alongside the growth of our community presence and management systems we have placed a heavy focus on providing a range of inclusive, enjoyable and diverse virtual events during Hilary Term. From Bingo to nights that tackle challenging conversation, 3-minute thesis competitions and cocktails there is sure to be something of interest! You’ll find the entire term card below, along with instructions on how you can register for all our Hilary Term events right now.
I would like to take a moment to thank our new Council who, as a team, have worked phenomenally hard to put together this 2021 launch. This is only the start, and everyone is looking forward to growing our events, opportunities and initiatives throughout the year as circumstances improve. While we hope to meet you all soon, for now, be sure to keep an eye on our social media for profiles on each of the Council members!
Keep reading on for all the new website and event details, news from our Christmas events and an exciting new Book Club initiative!
Wishing the entire Clarendon Community a safe and satisfying term ahead.
Best wishes,
Dylan
