How It Works:
Clarendon Connect is a new program to link up Clarendon Scholars who want to discuss, teach, or collaborate on skills, ideas, initiatives, and more, to people who want to learn or join in.
Are you looking for collaborators on a start-up? Perhaps you've always wanted to learn how to crochet, how to throw a Frizbee, or how kintsugi works? Maybe you want to get into baking or need to practise a foreign language. It may be that you just want to find people with a common interest to discuss, be that cryptocurrency or unicycling, Latin or Lord of the Rings.
Clarendon Connect is our way of helping pairs, trios, or groups of scholars connect over common interests or share skills they have with others who want to learn. It could be a one off occasion, a regular series of events, or whatever you would like.
Whether you want to find people to collaborate with on climate initiatives or cooking, discuss Modern Monetary Theory or TaskMaster, if you can teach people the basics of playing the guitar, want to learn more about green finance, or just have a board game you want to play with people, start here:
Think of it a bit like a Clarendon community noticeboard. On this spreadsheet you'll find all manner of topics, skills, subjects, etc., that people have either requested or offered to share. At the moment, these are all example ideas to spark your imagination. If you'd like to suggest something yourself, please do so here.
As we progress, we will continue to grow the spreadsheet and you will be able to request to connect with people who have listed different things on the spreadsheet, and we will link you to people via channels on our Clarendon Scholars Slack.
Depending on engagement and size, we will aim to do events online or in person like:
Connecting people for meet ups
Running classes led by Clarendon Scholars
Connecting language learners with native speakers
Starting Discussion Groups
We hope scholars find this a useful way to connect, collaborate, and be in community throughout their time at Oxford in whatever ways you can imagine!
